Workshop Honouring The Residential School Children That Did Not Come Home, IRS Survivors And Their Families.
Sign-up to receive your kit and link to the live virtual event with guidance from Elder Beverly Tourangeau. Beverly is an Elder of the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation and a residential school survivor. Her passion is teaching Indigenous culture and passing on traditional knowledge to youth through beading and sewing.
The workshop will be 2 hours long and will result in the completion of one moccasin. The participants will complete the other moccasin on their own.
We ask that you name the person whose honour you are making the moccasins for. This will be part of a display with the moccasins when the project is complete. The name of the maker and person being memorialized will be placed in the moccasin and recorded.
Thank you Arts Council Wood Buffalo for your collaboration on the Baby Moccasin Project.
